Description

Impart X-Ray Quality Back Beads on Root Pass Welds These backing tiles are designed to impart consistent, X-ray quality back beads on root pass welds while allowing welding from one side only. Their design enables greater weld metal deposition, allowing the root weld and fill to be completed in a single pass significantly reducing defects, rework, and costly, unnecessary gouging or grinding. Featuring a wider, heat-receptive, pressure-sensitive foil, the tiles provide improved adhesion to the workpiece during welding. Each tile is radiused to form a continuous strip around cylindrical joints, creating space for slag to flow away while maintaining a clean, well-formed root bead. Most suitable for applications involving slag, these tiles are ideal for M.A.G. welding with cored wire.
